JUDGE SN GOES GOLFING is a chapbook published by Subterranean Press and autographed by the author. It’s set in the universe of John Scalzi’s The Android’s Dream. A humorous piece, it’s noteworthy for the cover and interior illustrations are by the artist Gahan Wilson. I don’t mind admitting his full page cartoons were one of my favorites every month in Playboy(among other things. I’m not sure whether he still does them because I haven’t seen one in years).
Judge Bufan Nigun Sn, of the Wryg race, is a rising jurist of the Common Confederation Court and assigned to Earth. Wednesday is his golf day and, normally a terrible golfer(his handicap is the highest assigned to the Wryg race by the USGA), he’s having his best day at the Dulles Woods golf course, the worst course East of the Mississippi River(it just misses the entire country because of God’s Love Creationism golf course near Flagstaff, Arizona). That is, until the assassination attempts start.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
