I’m a bit late to the party on this one as I watched it on Pay-Per-View yesterday. I don’t go the theater anymore as my wheelchair status makes it a substantial undertaking for anyone to help me. I save the asking for things like a doctor’s appointment. Besides, if I remember correctly, we had no theaters open in my home town at the time it was making the circuit. Just an old drive-in open on Saturday and Sunday during Spring and Summer. That would have meant an additional forty miles travel time to the nearest town showing it. The chain that owned the four screen cineplex shut it down and for about six months nothing, until another took it over.
I enjoyed AVATAR. Nice story, not very complex, but the special effects put one right into the world of Pandora(I’m certain it would have been even more enjoyable on the big screen, especially IMAX and 3D(I couldn’t tell you where the nearest one is located). The story is not new. Some said he ripped off Poul Anderson’s CALL ME JOE. Other people had other stories they thought Cameron “borrowed” from.
I don’t know.
As I said, I enjoyed it. Probably wouldn’t watch it again or buy a DVD though.
