The Jets had another overtime game this week. I’m not sure why. Cleveland is improved, but still not supposed to be in their league. It was an overtime win for the Jets, 26-20, but almost a tie. The winning score came with sixteen seconds left in the overtime period.
All the teams in the AFC East won yesterday, with Buffalo getting their first win of the season over Detroit, 14-12, with New England putting their foot down on Pittsburgh, 39-26, and Miami taking out Tennessee, 29-17. I admit to being torn about the Patriots win. A loss would help the Jets, but a Steeler win would not be something I liked. Don’t much care for them after the business with Roethlisberger. Not the Steelers’ fault, but I agreed with former Steeler great Terry Bradshaw who said if he’d owned the team, Big Ben would no longer be with them. He got lucky after doing something reprehensible.
The Panthers actually played better yesterday than they have been. Good defense, lousy offense, though some of the starters are hurt. But Tampa Bay was the better team, beating my team 31-16. Season’s done, probably have a new head coach next year and who knows what other changes.
Good Lord, what a mess. I knew it was going to be a long night when the Eagles scored on their first play, a long pass from Vick. At the end of the first quarter, it was 28-0, 35-0 after one play of the second. The ‘Skins showed a bit of life for a while with two quick TDs.
Too little, too late.
The Eagles just made it 52-21. I’m giving up and going to bed.
