The ‘Skins brought their defense with them to Tennessee this week. There were a number of key injuries on both sides(seven on the ‘Skins, one on the Titans). The Titans lost Vince Young to an injured thumb on his throwing hand, reducing them to a third string quarterback as Kerry Collins was already hurt. The game went to overtime when the ‘Skins field goal kicker missed a 47 yard attempt at the end of regulation. He made up for it though with a 48 yard effort though that ended the game.
The Jets game wasn’t carried in this area. They edged the Texans(sorry Scott) with a 30-27 win.
And finally we come to the Panthers. Their exercise in futility continued as they lost to a much superior Ravens team, 37-13. They were starting a quarterback that was, as the sports shows referred to him, a stay-at-home dad last weekend, was not on any roster in training camp, and had only threw five game passes in a multi-year career. One sports broadcaster said, and I’m paraphrasing, “John Fox, what are you doing?” The panthers are not likely to win another game this year I’m afraid.
Ah well, the Jets are my sole hope for something in the play-offs this year, though I remember forty years of futility there, teasing us fans every now and again, but fading down the stretch.
