After the lockout, with it’s non-existent off-season workouts and shortened training camp, the 2011 year gets underway tonight with a fine match-up on NBC. The last two Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints(go Charles) and the defending Green Bay Packers butt heads tonight at eight-thirty, right after President Obama’s address to Congress. The pre-game show, beginning at 7:00 p.m., will air on five cable channels at the same time: VERSUS, USA, Syfy, G4, and NFL network while the President is on.
The game should be a good one and the Packers will be out for revenge of sorts as the last time the two played, November 24, 2008, the Saints laid a whipping on them, 51-29. The Packers have a much improved defense this time around and a champion offense as well.
Once again: Are You Ready For Some football?
Though on Thursday night, the intro will likely be their Sunday night theme. Here’s the intro. It’s got Faith Hill, always a good thing.
I’m ready right now. I hope I’m still ready after Obama’s speech.
Here on the left coast, the pre-game is on at 4:45 pm and the game starts at 5:30 pm. A couple months ago I couldn’t wait for the season to get going, now for some reason I’m overcome with lassitude about it. I doubt I’ll even have the TV on today/tonight.
I’m so sick of Obama trying to put plans into motion to get things better and then the Republicans stonewalling and blocking every effort, even ignoring their constituency, and then blaming Obama for lack of action and progress that I’m COMPLETELY fed up with it all, all politics, elections, debates, speeches, messages, ALL OF IT. So I’m adopting the strategy of the ostrich. It will all go on regardless of what I do, might as well try to keep my blood pressure down.
Maybe this will be the Lion’s year. I can dream, right? And amen about your comments above.
Note on church billboard.
Dear Rick: You know that voice whispering in your ear? It’s not me.
Love, God.
Good one, Patti. I think this will be the year the Lions at least have a 50-50 win-loss record. If they were in the NFC West, they have a shot at the playoffs. How the mighty have fallen.
Patti, the experts on the sports shows have Detroit doing much better this year We’ll see.
The politicians leave me cold. I was amused last night when Leno spoke of the latest debate. He says Bachman and Perry spent more time arguing about which one God calls first.
