1: Slash and Burn(ARC) – Matt Hilton: Joe Hunter is a problem solver. He uses the skills he acquired working in Special Ops. He’s in Florida on downtime when he’s approached by an attractive young woman seeking his help. She was there specifically looking for him, sent there by an old friend. Kate Piers is the sister of a friend of his killed on one of their Black Ops missions saving Joe’s and the rest of the team’s lives. She wants his help finding her sister who’d disappeared and wasn’t answering her cell.

He ends up in Kentucky in the middle of a running gun battle with a pack of rednecks trying to kill them. The pack is led by the very dangerous Bolan brothers, twin seven footers with a collective weight of nearly six hundred pounds. But there’s someone even more dangerous behind them.

Thousands are dead and many thousands more are dying of radiation poisoning.National Security Advisor Sean Falcone is charged with finding them before another bomb is ignited. Forces in th caital point the finger at Iran.

3: The Night and The Music(ebook, review copy) – Lawrence Block: a collection of all the Matt Scudder short stories. A nice set, I enjoyed myself with these.

4: Adventures of Cash Laramie and Gideon Miles(ebook, review copy) – Edward A. Grainger: the latesy collection of tales by David Cranmer.

5: Doomsday Mesa(ebook) – Chap O’Keefe: one of the authors older novels ow available as an ebook.

2011 NFL Week 4

Week four shows an improving Cam Newton. Yes, the Panthers lost their third game, but Newton continues to show that the so-called experts were wrong. They’re even beginning to admit so. He still has a lot to learn though. A dew times in the red zone they were unable to get a TD and had a field goal blocked.

His stats for the game were 27/46, 374 yards, 1 TD pass, 2 TDs scored himself, and 1 pick. The Panthers rushing game was much improved. But then soo was the Bears, to the tune of almost double the yards.

The Panthers’ special teams slipped a bit, letting a punt get returned by Hester for a TD and also Hester returned a kickoff for 73 yards to set up another TD.

Ah well, they’re learning.

The ‘Skins prevailed over the Rams 17-10 to go to 3-1. grossman had a workmanlike game with 15/29, 143 yards, 1 Td, 1 pick. It was enough as the mighty “dream team” is now at 1-3, the Cowboys are at 2-2, and the Giants are trailing early in their game withe Cardinals.

The Jets play later tonight.

A wild start.

Jets defense held on the opening drive of the game, but the team was pinned deep. Sanchez got hit, fumbled the ball, and the Ravens defense took it in for a score. On the kickoff, the Jets returned it 107 yards for a score.

From that point, the Jets didn’t play particularly well on either side of the ball. The offensive line was missing a key component due to injury and couldn’t open things up for the running game. Sanchez got hit and once more coughed it up for a TD return. Sanchez was just average: 11/35. 119 yards, 1 pick.

Flaco wasn’t a lot better with 10/31, 163 yards, and a pick returned for a touchdown.

After four games, the ‘Skins are NOT the team I would have picked to be 3-1.

And finally, a shout out to all Lions fans. 4-0 and counting the end of last season, they’ve won eight in a row I believe.
