Consider the difference between the two starship Captains:
When Data died, Picard had a funeral for him. When Spock died, Kirk reconstitutes the body, forces it’s soul back into that body, and even gets him laid along the way.

I have to admit to being a Kirkophile. Though I have nothing against Picard
You have to recall that Data wasn’t biologically alive… but I prefer Picard, always have, and prefer STNG over the original series. If I could only watch one of the ST series, it would be STNG. Never cared much for the other, later ones either.
To each his own, Richard. I’ve always preferred TOS as most folks refer to it. No, Data wasn’t alive, but he was given a funeral. Both Picard and Kirk were distinctly different characters, both had their moments, I like both, but if limited to one show, it would be Kirk and his Enterprise.
