Things had gone to hell when it was established that the 6.5 kilometer wide asteroid would hit Earth. It’s late April and the date is October 3rd. Most people don’t give a crap. It appears to be suicide by hanging in the bathroom of a local MacDonald’s. It looks fishy to Hank. The man was shabbily dressed, his cell phone was missing, and he’d been hung with an expensive belt. He stil word his own cheap belt.
2: The Dog Stars(ARC) – Peter Heller: Hig is a pilot who lives in a hanger with his dog, Jasper, in this post-apocalypse novel. His family and friends are all gone. A gun nut neighbor protects them from the occasional intruder. But after nine years, Hig is starting to wonder why he even bothers.
3: Double Share – Nathan Lowell: the fourth volume in the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper series.
4: Doctor Who: Shada _ Gareth Roberts: a novel based on the unfinished series of A Tom Baker Doctor story by the late Douglas Adams. A strike interrupted filming and the next season they just started fresh. It’s not just a novelization of Adams’ scripts, but an effort to put in novel form the real story he wanted to do, but the producer wanted a different ending. Plus notes left and a handwritten scene by Adams that wasn’t used in the TV scripts.
5: The Loner: Hard Luck Money – J. A Johnstone: the latest novel in this popular western series. A post I did on the books several years back, though I update constantly with each new book, is still one of my most visited entries.
