Another winning collection of short stories from Moonstone books. This is their third set featuring the Green Hornet, this version the one that was on the sixties TV series. Here, the time is the early seventies, at least in the last few. That’s made clear in references to our exiting Viet Nam and talk of the Hornet and Kato getting a bit older.

Seventeen stories, edited by Joe Gentile, Win Scott Eckert, & Matthew Baugh, with a wide range of writers represented: Will Murray, Mel Odom, Win Scott Eckert, C.J. Henderson, Ron Fortier, Matthew Baugh, Howard Hopkins, and Eichard Dean Starr are some of the better known names. To me anyway.

All solid stories, but some stood out.

THE WORLD WILL END IN FIRE by Richard Dean Starr: the story of how the Hornet and Kato met, both at young ages.

REVENGE OF THE YELLOWJACKET by Howard Hopkins: the third time the Hornet has crossed paths with her, a woman who knows his civilian identity.

STORMFRONT by Greg Gick: homegrown terrorists attack Detroit.

AXFORD’S STING by Dan Wickline: the ex-cop reporter with a blind spot/mania about the Hornet takes center stage in this one.

PROGRESS by Win Scott Eckert: a wrap-up of sorts as relationships come to the fore for several characters.

Loved them all though. Now it’s time for a Hornet novel.

It can be ordered HERE.
