A satirical look at college life.
Every problem you’ve ever had in college life is in here pushed to absurd limits. The long lines to get anything done, the showing up in class and missing some important piece of equipment or book, the crazy rules, the electives that seem unnecessary to your major. Buildings with names like the Jerry Mander Building, professors with names like Stan Dard and A. Paul Ling.
I found myself grinning, laughing out loud, as our hero, Bill Smith fumbles his way through the early days of his freshman year.
Bill meets and makes friends, attends a football game, also meets someone named Clyde who seems to have mastered every facet of the college life while he seems hopelessly lost, only to learn something odd about this new friend.
But in all the humor, the author states one truth I’ve found in almost every walk of life. Bill meets an old woman in the library and makes a comment about when all things are said and done…
Her reply is “When all is said and done, a great deal has been said and very little done!”
So true.
If you’ve ever felt lost, in any facet of life, this book is one you should give a try.
