A most interesting collection of short stories here. Some previously published in various print and ezines, others new, flash pieces and longer works. Each is accompanied with a 
small piece discussing the generation of the tale, it’s publication history. Or not.
Some of the standouts for me were HELL, HERE & NOW in which the several greats grandson of Dante, a failed screenwriter tours Hell and all the new construction going on. I recognized areas for some types of folks I often thought myself needed a special place in Hell. I found it amusing.
BARTHOLOMEW MORTIMAN discusses religion and expresses some feelings I had on the subject as well. And a most unusual resolution.
THE CLOCK IS TICKING AND SO ARE WE delivers an unexpected ending. I thought I knew where Kevin was headed. He fooled me, always nice.
VISIONS OF REALITY resonated with me. I worked for a while at a Waldenbooks. The corporate mentality was there as everywhere. The big wheels never got it. I was fortunate to have a manager a bit better than the one in this story. I was her go to guy for SF and Fantasy. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have happen to me what the story’s protagonist went through.
BURNING QUESTIONS has a murder investigation in that far flung future of 2012. The killer is obvious, but the detective has a few unanswered questions about it that his superiors don’t care.
PACKAGE OF PAIN has a cop receiving mysterious packages he doesn’t quite understand.
These are some of my favorites. All are good, though, and as I’ve said before, the next fellow likely would have a different set of favorites.
Kevin lives in Texas and most of these tales are set there. I like the way his mind works in reading the collection. He’s just a bit weird, in a good sort of way mind you, reminding me of my mindset at times. We all get these thoughts of homicide at times when we run into some of the morons of the world, never really acting on them, just having those delicious thoughts to assuage our anger.
