A charming adult graphic novel that tells the story of three honest men wanting out from under the thumb of “Fat” Tony Palmenterri, a Mafia Don who’s men run a protection racket in 
the neighborhood.
Beau Verducci is an unmarried young man who supports his ailing mother, his father passed away. He’s a candlestick maker. Morris Delveccio is a baker that loves the ladies, but never has a lot of money to spend. And Joe the butcher has a shrew of a wife that assails him for his lack of money.
Each man has his own reasons to want the end of the protection racket.
In this first part, the scene is set and the trio meet, beginning to compare notes.
The artwork is by the author, interesting in itself, the text minimal, and it rhymes. An unusual idea all around and I’ll look forward to more parts to see how author Scherer resolves it all. The author has a website here and has a short video and a daily visual blog. He plans to have a daily entry, in the manner of a newspaper strip as he tells the tale.
