Week one of the new NFL season is winding down. Two games Monday night left to go.
I’ve already discussed the ‘Skins’ victory over the Cowboys(heh, heh), so I won’t hear. The Panthers looked awful. Defense was decent, but not overwhelming. The offense stank.
I’m not sure about our new starting quarterback, Matt Moore. The Panthers were due for a change. Jake DelHomme served honorably and well, but after the Tommy John surgery, he was never the same. Year before last, he had a pretty good year until he had the meltdown against the Cardinals in the playoffs. The next season he continued in the same vein as that playoff game. Could be a combination of age and the surgery. I don’t know. I wish him well with the Browns.
I await the Jets’ game against the Ravens tonight.
An ugly mess. Final score 10-9 Baltimore.
I watched two very tough defenses tonight. Neither offense was real impressive, though the Ravens did move the ball well, just kept making turnovers, early, or stalling late in drives.
The Jets’ offense needs a lot of work. Six first downs(ties a time low). Thirty-seven offensive plays(a team low). Three field goals total. It appeared at times that Sanchez was afraid to throw deep. Or possibly the coaching staff was afraid for him to do so. They announcers working the game kept talking about him checking off the safe, short pass to quickly.
It could be a long season.
