In his introduction to this excellent collection, editor David Cranmer talks about the personal aspects of the project. His nephew Kyle J. Knapp lost his life in an accident. A promising writer, poet, and musician, Uncle and nephew had renewed a relationship that had slid over the recent years. Life just got in the way for both of them.
David had already published a boo of Kyle’s poetry and what we have here are short stories based on Kyle’s dream journals, found in paperwork left with his mother, David’s sister. David himself had done the same in his younger years, jotting down snippets of remembered dreams.
A fine line-up of authors embraced the task of turning some of those dreams into short stories. A wide variety of genres, crime, horror, science fiction, even a knife edge of horror in one story by a favorite.
Here’s the line-up:
THE LIZARD’S ARDENT UNIFORM – Chris F. Holm
DUST TO DUST – Terrie Farley Moran
TWIN TALK – Patti Abbott
THE MALIGNANT REALITY – Evan V. Corder
GHOSTS IN THE FOG – Steve Weddle
THE DEBT – Hilary Davidson
THE ZIGMA GAMBIT – Garnett Elliott
Winners all. David mentions that some of the proceeds will go to education. The paperback can be ordered here. The volume 1 tells me we will likely see more. Certainly hope so.
